Starting to Film!

We have not accomplished much filming so far. My group-mates and I all met up this past weekend to begin. Since half of our scenes take place in a city, we decided to film downtown. It has the most buildings and is usually a little busy, so it was a perfect spot. We all met up at Dara's house because she lives very close to where we needed to be. Our goal was to film the scenes where our two main characters are talking at their table and the other scene where they are walking away. It was a really windy day so our actresses did have to talk louder than we hd anticipated. This took a few takes so it took a little longer than we had expected. We also hadn't really planned for quite how many people would be downtown on a weekend. Because it is spring break for so many colleges, there were practically twice as many people as usual. This made tracking shots really difficult. We couldn't walk in a straight path to film. We had to switch locations multiple times. That part was very frustrating. We ended up moving to a part of the city where there were less tourist spots, and it was much less crowded. It was a bit disheartening at first, because the background didn't look as much like a city. However, after filming a few scenes we ended up being pretty happy with how it looked. The buildings in the back looked just as well with the city theme, and less people allowed for more of a focus on our main characters. We filmed and re filmed until we were happy with our scenes. After that we only began filming the scenes where our characters are inside their home. We decided to stop there and pick it up another day. This first day of filming overall went well, even though there were a few hiccups. I think we adjusted to them perfectly.
